Single-A San Jose’s Travis Ishikawa went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBI yesterday.
Ishikawa didn’t play especially well in July, but he is batting .285/.395/.537 with 18 HR in 354 AB this season. While it’s unlikely that he’ll be a factor next year, he’s establishing himself as a reasonable candidate to be the Giants’ first baseman in 2007.

Giants recalled first baseman Travis Ishikawa from Double-A Connecticut.
While Ishikawa is 6-for-12 with three RBI in the majors so far, he still hasn’t done anything in Double-A to suggest that he’s ready. The Giants will likely give him a bunch of starts at first base before Lance Niekro returns, but they’d be better off going with Mark Sweeney.

Giants optioned first baseman Travis Ishikawa to Double-A Connecticut.
Ishikawa went 5-for-10 with four extra-base hits and three RBI while filling in for Lance Niekro, but he isn’t ready to be the Giants’ first baseman. Maybe he’ll get mroe of an opportunity in August or September.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Travis Ishikawa had three hits and three RBI in his first start in the majors Friday against the Rockies.
Ishikawa went 1-for-2 in two games off the bench for the Giants last month. It would take a couple of more games like this to give Ishikawa any chance of sticking around after Lance Niekro returns next week. He belongs in Double-A right now.

Giants recalled first baseman Travis Ishikawa from Double-A Connecticut.
Ishikawa, who had a 710 OPS in Double-A, is going to start at first base tonight, but he’ll only be around for a few days. Lance Niekro should take his roster spot on Tuesday.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Travis Ishikawa homered in both games of Double-A Connecticut’s doubleheader on Sunday.
He also singled and drove in five runs in all. Ishikawa, who has served three brief stints in the majors, is batting .264/.339/.454 in 163 at-bats for the Defenders.

Mat Gamel is not in the lineup Thursday.
It’s his first day off of the season. Travis Ishikawa will start at first base against Aaron Harang.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Travis Ishikawa has earned a 25-man roster spot.
The 28-year-old beat out Brooks Conrad for the final spot on the Milwaukee bench. Ishikawa will function merely as a pinch-hitter in the early going but could see legitimate playing time at first base if Mat Gamel struggles.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Travis Ishikawa homered in a second straight game Wednesday against the Astros.
Ishikawa has played two in a row because Mat Gamel has a sore shoulder. Gamel is doing just fine at the plate so far, so Ishikawa still isn’t in line for much playing time if Gamel proves healthy.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Travis Ishikawa hit his first homer of the season in Tuesday’s 9-6 victory over the Astros.
The two-run shot put the Brewers ahead in the fifth inning. It was his first major league four-bagger since August 8, 2010. Back then he was batting .293. This season he is batting only .188 in 16 at-bats.
