  • ATL Catcher #16
Travis d’Arnaud clobbered a two-run homer on Saturday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Braves past the Yankees in New York.
The 35-year-old backstop tagged Marcus Stroman for a 355-foot (98.9 mph EV) two-run shot in the seventh inning that pulled the Braves to within four runs at 7-3. That would be as close as they would get. It was also d’Arnaud’s only hit in three at-bats on the evening. On the season, he’s now slashing .242/.310/.464 with seven long balls and 24 RBI, though his utility from a fantasy perspective has fallen by the wayside following the return of Sean Murphy at the end of May.

Braves activated C Sean Murphy from the 10-day injured list.
It’s been a long wait, but Murphy is back. The veteran catcher played just one game for the Braves this season before injuring his oblique. He’s been hitting the ball well on his rehab assignment and throwing out baserunners, which shows his readiness to step back behind the dish. With Travis d’Arnaud playing well while Murphy was out, it’s likely that the Braves use a timeshare at catcher for the next few weeks, so fantasy managers who have d’Arnaud can maybe hold on a bit longer. That’s especially true given the injury to Ronald Acuna Jr. could mean Marcell Ozuna plays some outfield and d’Arnaud or Murphy could DH on occasion.

Travis d’Arnaud went 3-for-4 with an RBI against the Padres on Monday.
D’Arnaud took a foul ball off the mask in last Friday’s game and subsequently sat out of Saturday and Sunday’s games. He was cleared of a possible concussion and returned to the lineup with a three-hit game. D’Arnaud’s time as Atlanta’s primary catcher might be coming to a close soon as the injured Sean Murphy is nearing a rehab assignment.

The Braves plan to start Travis d’Arnaud behind the dish for the nightcap of Monday’s doubleheader against the Padres.
The 35-year-old backstop took a foul ball off his mask on Friday night and wound up missing the remainder of the weekend. Expect Chadwick Tromp to start once again for the first game on Monday.

Travis d’Arnaud is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Padres.
It will be another day off for d’Arnaud after being removed from Friday’s game. Chadwick Tromp will get the start behind the plate in his absence. For now, d’Arnaud should be considered day-to-day.

Travis d’Arnaud (head) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Padres.
No surprise here after d’Arnaud was removed from Friday’s game after experiencing dizziness following a foul ball to the mask. Initial tests indicated he didn’t suffer a concussion, but he’s had four concussions already in his career, so the Braves are going to proceed with caution. He’s day-to-day with a head contusion for the moment.

Travis d’Arnaud was pulled from Friday night’s battle against the Padres due to a head contusion.
The 35-year-old backstop was dizzy after taking a foul ball off of his mask, prompting his removal from the game. The good news, is that he passed the initial concussion tests without issue, but he will be evaluated again on Saturday before the team makes a determination on his status. For now, he should be considered day-to-day.

Travis d’Arnaud is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Mets.
Instead, Atlanta will start Chadwick Tromp behind the plate while d’Arnaud rests. The 35-year-old backstop was excellent to begin 2024, but he’s struggled thus far in May with a .611 OPS over 18 at-bats.

Travis d’Arnaud went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the sixth inning to help lead the Braves over the Marlins, 3-0 on Monday.
d’Arnaud’s two-run shot was a huge lift for Atlanta who finished the game 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The 35-year-old backstop now has five home runs in his past four games, with three of them coming in one game against the Rangers on Saturday. d’Arnaud is putting together a career-best .980 OPS and 14 RBI in his 18 games played this season.

Travis d’Arnaud hit three homers to drive in six runs and power the Braves past the Rangers 8-3 on Friday.
There weren’t any cheapies either, as d’Arnaud’s homers were projected at 429, 440 and 433 feet. With a chance at a fourth in the bottom of the eighth, d’Arnaud grounded out against Austin Pruitt. It’s d’Arnaud’s second career three-homer game, the other coming with the Rays in 2019. He had been without a homer in 48 plate appearances this season, but his OPS jumped from .561 to .819 tonight.
