White Sox optioned 1B Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte.
While Elko has flashed his trademark power at the major league level with four homers in his first 63 plate appearances, he has done so while slashing a woeful .155/.222/.379 with a 24/5 K/BB ratio. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A Charlotte to continue to refine his approach. Ryan Noda was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the White Sox’ active roster.

Tim Elko had a two-run homer and a double Saturday as the White Sox defeated the Royals 4-1.
It’s nice that Elko’s latest stay in Charlotte was a short one because of Lenyn Sosa’s injury, because he definitely deserved a longer look than what he got the first time around. He now has four homers in just 44 major league plate appearances, which, at least for the moment, makes up for the .196 average and 13/1 K/BB.

White Sox recalled INF Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte.
Elko will take the roster spot of Lenyn Sosa after Sosa was placed on the injured list with a hip flexor strain. Elko should see some decent run with the White Sox now that he’s back on the roster, but it’s a tough sell from a fantasy perspective for a variety of reasons.

White Sox optioned INF Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox need room on the roster for Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman to come off the injured list, so Elko along with Andrew Vaughn are the casualties. Elko could be up again before the end of the summer, but he’s a tough sell from a fantasy perspective. Tough sell seems like the nice way to put it.

Tim Elko will head to the bench for the White Sox on Thursday against the Marlins.
Elko has gone just 2-for-14 with four strikeouts in four games since being called up, so perhaps the White Sox are just giving him a day to regroup. Still, he hit .348 with 10 home runs in 31 games at Triple-A this season, and this White Sox team is going nowhere, so it makes more sense for them to keep him in the lineup and see if he can adjust to MLB pitching. We’ll hope this is just a routine off day. Lenyn Sosa will play first base and bat sixth, with Josh Rojas sliding over to second base

Tim Elko is at DH and batting seventh on Wednesday against the Reds.
Elko has gone 1-for-10 with a three-run homer through three games since being called up last weekend by Chicago. The 26-year-old slugging prospect offers enough power potential to merit a speculative roster spot in deeper formats, but he’s likely to face a significant adjustment period at the big-league level.

Tim Elko went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run against the Marlins on Sunday.
Elko went 0-for-3 in his MLB debut after being called up on Saturday. His first major league hit was one he’ll never forget: a blast off Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara that was the deciding factor in the White Sox win in Miami on Sunday. Elko has big power and also a propensity to strikeout as he slugged .670 and had a 28.5 strikeout percentage in 31 games with Triple-A Charlotte. He’s someone to watch in AL-Only leagues for now.

White Sox selected the contract of Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte.
There’s plenty of swing-and-miss in Elko’s profile, which amplifies the risk as he makes the leap to the majors, but the stratospheric raw power is undeniable. The 26-year-old slugging prospect has nothing left to prove at in the minors after slashing an astronomical .348/.431/.670 with 10 homers through 31 games at Triple-A Charlotte. He struck out nearly 30 percent of the time during that span, so fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him helping out in the batting average department. He’ll have an opportunity to carve out a role with the rebuilding White Sox, which is an achievement considering he was an unheralded 10th-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft after a standout collegiate career at Ole Miss.

According to Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times, the White Sox plan to promote first base prospect Tim Elko on Saturday.
The 26-year-old slugger has been mashing at Triple-A Charlotte this season, slashing .348/.431/.670 with 10 homers, 23 RBI and a 37/15 K/BB ratio over his first 130 plate appearances. Given the overall struggles of the White Sox’ offense this season, it’s surprising that he hasn’t received an opportunity sooner.

White Sox selected the contract of INF Nick Maton from Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox are bring back Maton for another stint instead of slugging prospect Tim Elko for reasons that are unclear. The 28-year-old returns to the big leagues with Andrew Benintendi hitting the injured list with a calf strain. He hit .173 (9-for-52) with two homers and four RBI in 23 games earlier this season before being removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster.
