Weber saw two relief appearances in his five-day stay with the big league club. The 27-year-old right-hander should be called back up at some point later this year.

Weber isn’t much of a prospect, but has a career 3.91 ERA in parts of four seasons in the minors. He’ll be used in long relief by the Tigers initially.

Weber allowed 10 hits and four earned runs in four innings earlier this season with Detroit. The 27-year-old is doubtful to suddenly find success with San Diego.

The 27-year-old right-hander returns to a 3.73 ERA and 58/13 K/BB ratio over 60 1/3 innings this year at the Triple-A level. Weber isn’t much of a prospect, but he has already had two brief stints with the Tigers this season. He’ll be back later this summer.

The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Weber spent the majority of this season with the Tigers organization before being claimed off waivers from the Padres in August. The 28-year-old right-hander is nothing more than organizational depth.

Alex Anthopoulos is at it again. Weber was designated for assignment by the Padres on Friday, but it didn’t take him long to find a new home. He’ll represent depth in the minors.

Weber has put up a 2.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over six appearances in the majors this season. He’ll work the middle innings.
