Tully went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 29-year-old lefty didn’t make an appearance for New York during a brief stint in the majors. He’ll presumably stick around as extra organizational pitching depth for the Yankees.

Tully’s time with the Yankees was short, as he was just added to the 40-man roster before Saturday’s game. He’s removed from that roster in order to make room for Jake Cousins. If Tully goes unclaimed, he could report back to Triple-A to provide depth for the remainder of 2024.

The 29-year-old southpaw will add some length to a depleted Yankees’ bullpen. Tully spent the entire 2023 season at the Triple-A level where he posted a 5.64 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and a 77/26 K/BB ratio over 91 innings. He can safely be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Tully got the start for the Yankees in an exhibition game against the Diablos Rojas. He tossed three scoreless frames before Robinson Canó took him deep for a solo homer in the fourth inning. The 29-year-old left-hander got the first out in the fifth before his day was done, scattering four hits and no walks with one strikeout. Tully won’t make the Yankee’s Opening Day roster, but should provide the team organizational depth in the minors.

Tully returns stateside after spending the latter portion of last season overseas with the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization where he compiled a strong 2.92 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 47/13 K/BB ratio across 64 2/3 innings (11 starts). The 29-year-old southpaw made three relief appearances for the Guardians during the 2022 campaign and spent most of last year in New York’s minor league system. He’ll likely open 2024 as extra organizational relief depth at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
