José Caballero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Caballero took Nathan Eovaldi deep for a two-run hot, accounting for the only runs the Rays would score on the day. The 27-year-old now has six home runs and 24 RBI on the season, but his fantasy value comes courtesy of his 24 stolen bases. As long as he keeps playing most of the games in Tampa Bay, his speed will give him fantasy value.

Zack Littell allowed seven runs on nine hits in four innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Littell has been inconsistent in his first season as a starter and has a 4.44 ERA on the year. His name has been mentioned in trade rumors with the Rays looking like sellers, but it’s also possible that the Rays will decide to move Littell back into a long relief role with Jeffrey Springs nearing a return to the MLB rotation. All of that makes Littell a risky bet beyond the All-Star break.

Yandy Diaz went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a three-run home run against the Rangers on Saturday.

Diaz’ home run was his eighth of the season. His three-run shot in the seventh inning off Jacob Latz put the Rays on top 3-2. Diaz is hitting just .270 on the season, but has picked it up lately. He’s 42-for-133 (.315) over his last 31 games.

Taj Bradley allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings and got a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.

Bradley gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. It was another solid outing for Bradley. He left the game with the Rays leading 3-2, but the bullpen couldn’t hold on to get him the win. Bradley hasn’t allowed more than two runs in his last six starts. He has a 3.23 ERA on the season. The 23-year-old right-hander is set to face the Guardians at home next weekend.

Josh Lowe is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rangers.

Rays manager Kevin Cash is rolling with an all right-handed lineup on Saturday afternoon against Rangers southpaw Andrew Heaney, which means Lowe will start this one on the bench. The 26-year-old corner outfielder is batting .259 (14-for-54) with three homers and six steals over his last 15 contests.

Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic didn’t formally present charges against Wander Franco by Friday’s deadline.

Under the Dominican Republic’s legal process, prosecutors still have an additional 15 days to act, which means that Franco hasn’t been cleared of any legal repercussions yet. The 23-year-old remains on administrative leave until July 14. It’s extremely difficult to envision a scenario where Franco resumes his playing career in the majors, even if he winds up avoiding any legal ramifications, following allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with an underage minor.

Shane Baz took a loss after allowing three runs in six innings Friday against the Rangers in his 2024 debut.

Baz allowed four singles and one double in the third, resulting in all three runs. He gave up just two additional hits and wound up with six strikeouts and one walk in the quality start. Unfortunately, quality starts aren’t enough for Rays pitchers this season, as the offense has proven incapable of scoring consistently.

Rays recalled RHP Shane Baz from Triple-A Durham.

Finally, the 25-year-old right-hander will make his highly anticipated 2024 regular season debut on Friday evening against the Rangers. Baz made 10 starts at Triple-A Durham while building up his stamina, registering a 4.12 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 44/23 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings of work. He’ll probably only go five innings in Friday’s start against the Rangers, so fantasy managers should temper expectations for a victory in his first start. He should deliver plenty of strikeouts though.

Rays optioned RHP Justin Sterner to Triple-A Durham.

Sterner was with the big-league club for just two days this time around, but he’ll head back to Triple-A to make room on the roster for the triumphant return of Shane Baz on Friday night. Sterner should get another opportunity with the Rays before the summer is through.

Josh Lowe went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base against the Royals on Thursday.

Lowe’s stolen base was his sixth of the season. He drove in Isaac Paredes with an RBI double in the first inning and scored on Ben Rortvedt’s two-run single in the fifth inning. Jose Siri pinch hit for him later in the game with a left-handed pitcher on the mound. Lowe is hitting just .223 with a .709 OPS and 14 RBI on the season.
