Blue Jays signed C Steve Berman to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Berman split last season between the Blue Jays and Twins at the Triple-A level, batting .212/.342/.392 with eight homers and one steal across 261 plate appearances. The 28-year-old backstop provides Toronto with some emergency catching depth behind firmly-entrenched starters Alejandro Kirk and Danny Jansen.
