    Phillies released OF Simón Muzziotti.
Muzzioti was one of the better prospects in Philadelphia’s system a few years ago, but only wound up getting into nine games during the 2022 campaign, going 1-for-9 at the dish. The 25-year-old outfielder has been cut loose after batting .224/.286/.362 with five homers and five steals in 256 plate appearances this season in the minors.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #57
Phillies optioned RHP Nick Nelson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and reassigned RHP Nick Snyder, OF Carlos De La Cruz, OF Matt Kroon, OF Simón Muzziotti, INF Nick Podkul, and C William Simoneit to minor league camp.
None of these moves comes as much of a surprise. Nelson was solid as a starter and reliever for the organization last year, and he figures to serve as valuable pitching depth over the course of the season.
  • PHI Center Fielder #40
Phillies sent OF Simon Muzziotti outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The talented 25-year-old outfielder was able to slip through waivers unclaimed this time around, so he’ll continue to function as outfield depth for the Phillies. Muzziotti spent most of the 2023 season at the Triple-A level where he slashed .296/.358/.404 with seven homers, 61 RBI, 26 stolen bases (in 38 attempts) and an 81/45 K/BB ratio over 524 plate appearances.
  • PHI Center Fielder #40
Phillies designated OF Simón Muzziotti for assignment.
Muzziotti had no path to a role with the Phillies, so this is good for him. The 25-year-old doesn’t have the bat to start in the majors, but he does a decent job of getting on base against righties and he’s an excellent defensive center fielder. He’s worthy of a spot on some team’s bench.
  • FA Right Fielder #89
Phillies optioned OF’s Jhailyn Ortiz and Símon Muzziotti to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; optioned OF Johan Rojas to Double-A Reading.
Once again, there are no real surprises among this batch of cuts, things will get tougher over the next few weeks though. Ortiz, 24, hit .237/.319/.415 with 17 homers, 61 RBI, nine stolen bases and a 165/43 K/BB ratio over 119 games at Double-A Reading during the 2022 season.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies recalled OF Simón Muzziotti from Triple-A Lehigh Valley; placed him on the 60-day injured list with a torn patellar tendon in his right knee.
Muzziotti suffered the season-ending injury recently at Lehigh Valley. The move is being made in order to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies optioned OF Simón Muzziotti to Double-A Reading.
It looks like Muzziotti’s stay with the big league club was very short-lived, lasting just one game that he failed to appear in. He’ll return to his everyday role at Double-A until he’s needed once again.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies recalled OF Simón Muzziotti from Double-A Lehigh Reading.
It might be a short stay for Muzziotti, as the Phillies will be able to add Brandon Marsh to their roster on Thursday. The 23-year-old has registered just a .715 OPS in his time with Reading in 2022.

  • FA Center Fielder #40
Phillies optioned OF Simon Muzziotti to Double-A Reading.
He was pressed into duty with the Phils battling injuries in their outfield but is no longer needed with Odúbel Herrera back. Muzziotti will get some more seasoning.

  • PHI Shortstop #5
Bryson Stott is starting at second base and hitting seventh for the Phillies in Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
Stott gets the call at the keystone in place of Jean Segura and Símon Muzziotti will patrol center field over Matt Vierling on Tuesday night.
