The Padres need a fifth starter tonight, so back down goes Reynolds. He has a 3.97 ERA and a 22/8 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings out of the San Diego pen this season.

Reynolds can come up despite being just sent down Saturday by the Padres because he’s replacing Ryan Bergert, as Bergert was placed on the 15-day injured list with a forearm contusion. Reynolds will operate as a middle-inning reliever while with San Diego in this stint.

Reynolds will head to the minors with Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) off the 60-day injured list for the Padres. Reynolds has compiled a 4.15 ERA over 21 innings with San Diego, and he’ll likely be back before the end of 2025.

Reynolds got the start on Saturday against the Braves after Micheal King was scratched with a shoulder issue. He gave up a run on a hit batter and a base hit in the second, then surrendered a solo homer to Matt Olson in the third. Austin Riley followed with a double, knocking Reynolds from the game at 57 pitches. Reynolds will likely revert to a long relief role regardless of King’s status, with Stephen Kolek in line to join the rotation should King require a stint on the injured list.

Reynolds will get a chance to make his season debut after being placed on the injured list on Opening Day with a right foot strain. He should operate in the middle innings for the Padres now that he’s healthy enough to do so.

Reynolds was in the mix for the final spot in San Diego’s season-opening rotation before suffering a foot injury. It’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return.

The Padres wanted to add a fresh arm to their bullpen for Saturday’s battle against the Rays and unfortunately it comes at Reynolds’ expense. The 26-year-old hurler has been outstanding in his time with the Padres this season, registering a 0.82 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 21/5 K/BB ratio over 11 innings. Don’t be surprised if he rejoins the active roster when rosters expand on Sunday.

Reynolds heads back to the minors after posting a strong 0.82 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21/5 K/BB ratio across 11 innings (nine appearances) for the Padres in his first exposure to the big leagues. The 26-year-old righty figures to return at some point in September.

Reynolds is up to give the Padres some added options in the bullpen after needing to use their relief corps a bunch during the series against the Marlins. He’s up with Jhony Brito heading to Triple-A to make room.

The Padres needed to free up a spot on their active roster for Adam Mazur to start on Friday night and unfortunately it was Reynolds that pulled the short straw this time around. The 26-year-old hurler threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball during his time with the Padres, posting a 1.80 WHIP and a 3/1 K/BB ratio.
