  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Mariners re-signed RHP Scott Patterson to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invite to spring training. Patterson, 32, posted an impressive 3.54 ERA and 77/7 K/BB ratio over 68 2/3 innings this past season between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma. The 6-foot-8 right-hander hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2008 with the Padres and Yankees. He’ll continue to serve as organizational depth.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Mets signed RHP Scott Patterson to a minor league contract.
Patterson had been cut loose by the Mariners despite posting a 2.89 ERA over 26 games at Triple-A Tacoma. The 33-year-old is merely organizational depth.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Mets voided the contract of RHP Scott Patterson.
Patterson (shoulder) was placed on the minor league disabled list after just two appearances. He won’t receive an injury settlement, and is likely to shut it down for the year rather than look for a role with another club.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Yankees purchased the contract of RHP Scott Patterson from Double-A Trenton.
The 28-year-old Patterson gets his 40-man spot after all. He earned it by posting a 1.05 ERA and striking out 92 batters in 77 1/3 innings, most of them coming at Double-A. If he had better stuff, the Yankees would have taken a look at him in September, if not before. Still, it’s worth the roster spot to see if he can succeed in middle relief.

Scott Patterson got five outs on Wednesday and has yet to allow a run in four innings in Venezuela.
Patterson had a 1.05 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings, most of them coming at Double-A, but the Yankees never gave him a callup. A 28-year-old former indy leaguer, he might make his major league debut at some point in 2008 if he can get off to a good start in Triple-A. He’s not a good bet to establish himself as a late-game reliever, but it’d be a nice story if he did.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Yankees signed RHP Scott Patterson to a one-year contract; purchased the contracts of C Francisco Cervelli, RHP Jeffrey Marquez and RHP Steven White.
The Yankees aren’t going to fall victim to what happened with the Angels and Warner Madrigal. Like the Angels, they missed the original deadline to add Patterson to the 40-man roster before he became a minor league free agent. They announced later that they were adding him, but they still needed to sign him, which they did today. The Angels ended up losing Madrigal to the Rangers.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Padres sent RHP Scott Patterson outright to Triple-A Portland.
The Padres are freeing up a whole bunch of 40-man roster spots with an eye towards being very active on the waiver wire at the end of the spring. Patterson was cut after giving up five earned runs in 8 1/3 innings.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Athletics acquired RHP Scott Patterson from the Padres for cash considerations.
Patterson, who is now 30 years of age, was 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA and a 64/40 K/BB ratio at Triple-A Portland. It’s not clear what the A’s want with him.

Yankees designated RHP Scott Patterson for assignment.
Patterson spent one day with the Yankees in June, making his MLB debut as a 28-year-old. He also posted a 3.80 ERA and 54/13 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings at Triple-A.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher
Padres claimed RHP Scott Patterson off waivers from the Yankees.
That was predicatable. Patterson is exactly the kind of pitcher the Padres love to add cheap. The 29-year-old possesses mediocre stuff, but he has a great track record in the high minors. He could be a very useful middle reliever.
