Hayden Birdsong, Mat Olsen, William Kempner and Sam Delaplane combined on a no-hitter for high-A Eugene on Tuesday.
The four combined to strike out 19 against the Angels’ Tri-City affiliate. Delaplane got the save, his first in four seasons, in his second appearance since moving up to Eugene. The 28-year-old, considered a strong relief prospect with the Mariners a few years back, has struggled to return from Tommy John surgery in 2021, making just four appearances last year and walking 20 in 17 innings so far this season.

A hard-throwing right-handed reliever with a quality slider, he’ll be popular as a minor league free agent, assuming that he hasn’t already agreed to remain with the Giants.
