Matt Chapman was named as the Rawlings’ Gold Glove Award winner at third base in the National League, marking the fifth time that the 31-year-old has received the honor.
Chapman wasted no time winning the award for the first time in the National League in his first season with the Giants -- impressively beating out Nolan Arenado to do it. Here’s the full list of Gold Glove winners in the National League (along with how many times they have won the award): C: Patrick Bailey (1), 1B: Christian Walker (3), 2B: Brice Turang (1), SS: Ezequiel Tovar (1), 3B Matt Chapman (5), P: Chris Sale (1), LF: Ian Happ (3), CF: Brenton Doyle (2), RF: Sal Frelick (1), UT: Jared Triolo (1).

Sal Frelick is hitting eighth and playing right field for Game 1 of the Wild Card series against the Mets on Tuesday.
Frelick will get the nod even after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left hip Friday. The 24-year-old will be closely monitored according to Brewers manager Pat Murphy, but all signs point to him being an option for Milwaukee as long as they’re still in the postseason. The full lineup for the Brewers against Luis Severino and the Mets: Brice Turang 2B, Jackson Chourio LF, William Contreras C, Garrett Mitchell CF, Willy Adames SS, Jake Bauers DH, Rhys Hoskins 1B, Frelick RF and Joey Ortiz at third base.
  • MIL Right Fielder #10
Sal Frelick (hip) is a part of the Wild Card series roster for the Brewers.
Frelick left Friday’s game against the Mets — the team the Brewers will be facing in the best-of-three series — with a hip injury, but the 24-year-old told reporters Monday he expected to be ready for action. There’s no lineup out just yet, but at the very least, Frelick is well enough to be on the roster.

Sal Frelick, who suffered a bone bruise in his left hip Friday, think he’ll be ready to play in Tuesday’s Wild Card Game 1.
Frelick worked out on the field today. Incidentally, the area where he got hurt colliding with a section of wall that was hollowed out to include a chain-line fence, has been padded over now.
  • MIL Right Fielder #10
Sal Frelick left Friday’s game against the Mets with a bone bruise in his left hip.
Frelick will not get the start Saturday because of the injury, and his status for Game 1 of the Wild Card round is very much up in the air. The Brewers won’t place Frelick on the IL, because if they did, he wouldn’t be eligible for that series. Regardless, Frelick’s regular season is certainly over.
  • MIL Right Fielder #10
Sal Frelick left Friday’s game against the the Mets with a leg injury.
Frelick was limping heavily as he exited the contest. The outfielder will likely need to undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury, and Garrett Mitchell has taken over.
  • MIL Center Fielder #10
Sal Frelick is sitting Sunday for the fifth time in the Brewers’ last eight games.
It’s a lefty-lefty matchup, but the Brewers have often kept Frelick in the lineup against southpaws when he’s going well, and he’s also been on the bench against a couple of righties during this stretch. He’s just clearly behind Blake Perkins on the depth chart at the moment, and the Brewers don’t consider either he or Garrett Mitchell everyday players.
  • MIL Center Fielder #10
Sal Frelick went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored in Tuesday’s win over the Cardinals.
Frelick’s RBI single in the second inning gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead early in this one. The Brewers outfielder would then triple in his next at bat in the fifth, and came around to score thanks to an RBI single by Joey Ortiz. Frelick has now hit safely in two-straight games and has multi-hit games four times this month. It was a nice night at the dish, but Frelick doesn’t offer much in the way of fantasy upside at this time.
  • MIL Center Fielder #10
Sal Frelick went 4-for-5 with two RBI in a blowout win Thursday over Atlanta.
In a game where the Brewers scored 16 runs and hit six homers, Frelick singled four times. That’s not an insult, just an observation. He gave the Brew Crew a 3-0 lead with a single in the first off Charlie Morton to score a run, and he picked up another run-scoring knock later in the blowout win. Frelick hasn’t shown much pop with a .344 slugging mark, but he has hit .274 with a .348 on-base percentage.
  • MIL Left Fielder #5
Garrett Mitchell is absent from the lineup for Thursday’s showdown against the Rockies.
No real surprise here as the Brewers are going to take things a bit slow here with Mitchell at least initially as he re-adjusts to everyday life in the majors. It’s Sal Frelick patrolling center field on Thursday evening at Coors Field.
