Cardinals selected the contract of RHP Ryan Loutos from Triple-A Memphis.
Loutos will be making his major league debut. The 25-year-old went undrafted after a stellar career at Washington University in St. Louis, joined the Cardinals to help in developing an app and wound up adding a bunch of velocity in throwing sessions to get signed as a player. Now he’s a major leaguer after posting a 1.72 ERA and an 18/9 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings out of the pen for Memphis. He’ll work in the middle innings initially.

Expect Cardinals’ skipper Oli Marmol to utilize Loutos in the middle innings.
