Loutos has fired 2 1/3 scoreless frames in three relief appearances this season for the Cardinals. The 25-year-old rookie right-hander figures to be back at some point later this month.

Loutos has thus far made two relief appearances in two stints with the Cardinals, getting four outs without allowing a run. Maybe he’ll stick around a little longer this time.

Loutos didn’t pitch in his three-day stint with the Cardinals.

Loutos is up to take the roster spot of Kyle Gibson with Gibson going on the bereavement list. He’ll likely head back to Memphis when Gibson returns in no more than three days.

Loutos was up for two weeks with the Cardinals, but he’ll head back to Triple-A with Chris Roycroft taking his place on the active roster. The 25-year-old Loutos will likely be back as a middle-inning option at some point this summer.

Loutos will be making his major league debut. The 25-year-old went undrafted after a stellar career at Washington University in St. Louis, joined the Cardinals to help in developing an app and wound up adding a bunch of velocity in throwing sessions to get signed as a player. Now he’s a major leaguer after posting a 1.72 ERA and an 18/9 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings out of the pen for Memphis. He’ll work in the middle innings initially.

No word yet on the potential corresponding move to get Loutos on the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old hurler has done a nice job in 13 appearances at Triple-A Memphis this season, registering a 1.72 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and an 18/9 K/BB ratio over 15 2/3 innings. Expect Cardinals’ skipper Oli Marmol to utilize Loutos in the middle innings.
