Burr

Burr has been on the IL all season with shoulder inflammation. He gave up one run and walked two in his inning for Triple-A Buffalo yesterday.

Burr opened the year on the shelf with shoulder inflammation and won’t be eligible to return until late May. The procedural move frees up a spot on Toronto’s 40-man roster.

The move is retroactive to March 24, but Burr has not yet begun throwing. It’s unclear when he will return to the Blue Jays bullpen.

The Blue Jays will use a bullpen game on Monday with Chris Bassitt starting on Tuesday and Bowden Francis going on Wednesday. Burr is not on the fantasy radar.

Yarbrough has appeared in four games since coming to the Blue Jays at the trade deadline, posting a 6.35 ERA in 5 2/3 innings. Even so, he could be an option in deeper formats against a weak Angels lineup on Thursday.

Burr, who was just optioned to the minors on Friday afternoon, rejoins Toronto’s bullpen ahead of Saturday’s game against the Rangers following the club’s decision to trade Nate Pearson to Chicago. The 30-year-old righty has made 10 relief appearances this season for the Blue Jays.

Burr had a 5.40 ERA in 10 games with the Blue Jays. It’s not the first time he’s been sent to the minors this year. Burr could be an option for Toronto again the next time they need a fresh bullpen arm.

He’ll swap places with Jose Cuas. Burr, 30, has made just three appearances out of the big-league bullpen this season — posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and a 3/1 K/BB ratio across 3 2/3 innings. He’ll be utilized primarily in the middle innings for the Jays.

Burr was sent to the minors as the corresponding move for the Blue Jays activating Yariel Rodríguez. The 30-year-old right-hander has a 4.91 ERA in three appearances with Toronto this season and a 2.21 ERA in 18 minor league appearances. Burr will be an option for Toronto again this season when the Blue Jays decide they need a fresh bullpen arm.

Burr is up with Brandon Eisert heading back down to Triple-A. The 30-year-old right-hander will be an option in the mid-to-late innings in this stint with the Blue Jays.
