Marinaccio

Marinaccio was designated for assignment on Friday despite posting a 3.86 ERA in 23.1 innings this season and a 3.22 career ERA in 114.2 innings over three seasons with the Yankees. This seems like a nice addition for the White Sox, who could use any help they can get on their roster.

New York needed a 40-man roster spot with Cody Poteet coming off the 60-day injured list. Marinaccio was a solid reliever for the Yankees, but spent most of this season at Triple-A and was out of options at the end of the season. Designating him for assignment was the logical choice from a roster management standpoint, though he is still a talented pitcher.

No word yet on who else is getting bumped, but this is one of two roster spots the Yankees are freeing up, since both Clarke Schmidt and Ian Hamilton are coming off the IL on Saturday. Marinaccio has often drawn the short straw this season, spending the bulk of the year in Triple-A despite a reasonable 3.86 ERA in 23 1/3 innings. He has to be very excited to be running out of options with the conclusion of the season.

Marinaccio is one of several new names for the Yankees with rosters expanding Sunday. The right-hander will be middle-inning fodder while with the club over the final month.

Marinaccio provides the Yankees with some extra bullpen depth for Saturday’s twin bill against the defending World Series champions. The 29-year-old righty has spent the last couple weeks in the minors after 13 relief appearances for New York.

The 29-year-old hurler was just promoted from Triple-A prior to Wednesday’s game here he did not pitch in a victory over the Phillies. He’ll make way for Enyel De Los Santos who is expected to join the roster on Thursday.

Marinaccio takes Will Warren’s roster spot today to kick off a third stint on the Yankees roster this season, but he might be bumped when Enyel De Los Santos officially joins the Yankees.

No surprise here as the Yankees are going to bring up some extra relief depth ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Braves after getting battered for 17 runs during Thursday’s series finale against the division-rival Orioles.

Marinaccio was sent down despite posting a 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP over 12 2/3 innings last month. The right-hander is back with Dennis Santana designated for assignment to make room for the 28-year-old on the active roster.

Marinaccio draws the metaphorical short straw with Nick Burdi set to return from the injured list for Friday’s series opener against the Astros. The 28-year-old righty boasts a stellar 1.42 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 10/5 K/BB ratio across 12 2/3 innings (nine appearances) this season in the big leagues.
