Roman Anthony (elbow) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s Grapefruit League contest against the Rays.
It’s encouraging to see Anthony back in Boston’s lineup after sitting out Friday’s exhibition contest against Northeastern University for precautionary reasons due to right elbow soreness. The 20-year-old prodigy is arguably the top prospect in fantasy baseball entering spring training, but appears to be a long shot to make Boston’s season-opening roster with Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu locked into starting roles.

Roman Anthony was scratched from Friday’s exhibition game against Northeastern University because of soreness in his right elbow.
Anthony was hit in that elbow during Thursday’s session, and the Red Sox aren’t going to take any unnecessary risks with their top prospect. The 20-year-old should be back in action in the coming days.

Red Sox invited top prospects OF Roman Anthony, 2B/SS Kristian Campebell and SS Marcelo Mayer to spring training.
No surprise here. The “Big Three” prospects in Boston’s system will be in big-league camp at the outset of spring training with Anthony and Campbell having the best shot of breaking camp in the majors and project as immediate five-category contributors for fantasy purposes. The pair rocketed through the Red Sox’ system last year and enter the 2025 season among the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape. They’re both worthy of speculative late-round selections in all fantasy drafts, especially if they start making noise in Grapefruit League contests.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Craig Breslow spoke on WEEI on Thursday and said he won’t rush the timeline for Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kristian Campbell.
There have been expectations that the three prospects, all ranked inside the top 15 overall prospects would be major players for the Red Sox in 2025. Breslow suggested that would be the case and said, “It could be early 2025 but I don’t think it makes a ton of sense to pressurize that timeline.” It’s most likely that all three players will need to fight for playing time in spring training, and the likelihood of them breaking camp with the team could be dictated by what moves the Red Sox make during the rest of the offseason.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks and also stole a base on Thursday for Triple-A Worcester.
At this point, the Red Sox might have to consider bringing up Anthony for a late-season cameo as he’s aced his first test at Triple-A Worcester, posting a surreal .971 OPS with three homers and two steals in less than 25 games since getting the call to the precipice of the big leagues. He’s one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape heading into 2025.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 4-for-5 with a walk on Tuesday for Triple-A Worcester.
Anthony hasn’t experienced any sort of turbulence since arriving at Triple-A Worcester earlier this month, batting .364 (20-for-55) with three homers and nine RBI across 13 contests. It’s appearing unlikely he’ll get a late-season call up to the majors with the Red Sox fading from playoff contention, but he’s universally-regarded as one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape heading into 2025.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Friday for Triple-A Worcester.
Anthony connected for his second big fly at the Triple-A level when he crushed a colossal 433-foot moonshot in the 10th inning of Friday’s showdown against Norfolk. The 20-year-old phenom is widely-regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball at this stage of his development and is now batting .341 (14-for-41) with two homers and seven RBI in 10 games since being promoted last week to the doorstep of the majors. It’s a small sample size, but his first exposure to Triple-A has been a smashing success so far.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 4-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Tuesday for Triple-A Worcester.
Anthony took former big league southpaw Bruce Zimmermann deep with a 415-foot no-doubter to right field for his first Triple-A homer as part of an extremely impressive four-hit performance. The 20-year-old phenom, who was promoted earlier this month to the doorstep of the majors, is universally-regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball heading into 2025. He should make a serious push to open next year in Boston.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Friday for Triple-A Worcester.
If we’re going to write glowing reviews after Anthony’s impressive multi-hit performance then we have to highlight some of his rougher nights as well. It’s no surprise to see the 20-year-old go through an initial adjustment period as one of the youngest hitters at the Triple-A level and it’s likely that facing some adversity is beneficial for his long-term outlook.

Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 3-for-4 with a double on Tuesday in his debut for Triple-A Worcester.
Anthony has blossomed into one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape over the last two seasons and is arguably the top outfield prospect in the game at the moment. The 20-year-old phenom was promoted earlier this week to Triple-A after posting a .856 OPS with 15 homers and 16 steals across 84 games for Double-A Portland. He’s probably talented enough to contribute right now for the Red Sox, but he’ll probably wind up finishing the year on the doorstep of the big leagues.
