Phillies sent RHP Ricardo Pinto outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Pinto has the option to elect free agency, but could wind up sticking around as extra organizational relief depth. The 30-year-old righty made it back to the majors this year for the first time since 2019, getting into six contests for the Phillies before being jettisoned from the club’s 40-man roster.

Phillies designated RHP Ricardo Pinto for assignment.
Pinto was removed from the active and 40-man roster with the Phillies needing the room for Taijuan Walker, who is coming off the injured list to start Sunday against the Padres. Pinto was ineffective to say the least in his appearances with Philadelphia with a 10.97 ERA and 8/5 K/BB ratio over six appearances.

Phillies selected the contract of RHP Ricardo Pinto from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Pinto will be making his first big-league appearance since 2019 when he gets into a game for the Phillies. The 30-year-old journeyman gets the call ahead of Tuesday’s showdown against the Reds with veteran reliever Connor Brogdon losing his spot in Philadelphia’s bullpen mix.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #49
The Phillies optioned LHP Kolby Allard, RHP Max Castillo and INFs Rodolfo Castro and Darick Hall to Triple-A Lehigh; Reassigned RHPs Austin Brice and Ricardo Pinto and C Cody Roberts to minor league camp.
The former first-round pick by the Braves will be used as a depth piece for the Phillies’ pitching this season. He was limited last season due to a shoulder injury, but made three starts and one relief appearance for Atlanta, amassing a 6.57 ERA in 12 1/3 innings. Allard tossed 5 2/3 innings of spring ball and allowed two earned runs on six hits.

Phillies signed RHP Ricardo Pinto to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Pinto will be in Phillies camp this spring to compete for a spot on the club’s season-opening roster. The 30-year-old journeyman righty is more of an organizational depth addition at this juncture of his career. He hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2019 campaign and spent last year pitching in the independent Mexican League.
  • MIL Right Fielder #20
Tigers optioned OF Daz Cameron and RHP Bryan Garcia to Triple-A Toledo; reassigned RHP’s Miguel Díaz and Ricardo Pinto to minor league camp.
No real shockers among the latest round of cuts from Tigers’ spring training as they have 42 players left in major-league camp. Díaz had a rough outing on Sunday afternoon against the Orioles, which likely ended his promising bid for a spot in Detroit’s bullpen. Garcia and Pinto will provide organizational relief depth and Cameron should get the call again at some point this season.

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area hears that it will be a one-year, $800,000 deal for Pinto, who was released by the Giants late last week. The 25-year-old right-hander owns an ugly 8.44 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, and 25/19 K/BB ratio in 32 major league innings and will now try to revitalize his baseball career in the KBO.
