Genovés returns to augment Tampa Bay’s minor-league catching depth after batting .243/.343/.442 with eight homers and two steals across 243 plate appearances last season between High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery. The 25-year-old backstop is merely extra organizational depth at this stage of his development.

The 23-year-old backstop has already spent six seasons toiling in the minor leagues for the Giants and he’ll continue to do so as organizational depth. In 2022, Genoves slashed .215/.300/.363 with 10 homers and 38 RBI in 350 plate appearances between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento.
