The 32-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment and passed through waivers without being claimed, so he’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Reds at the Triple-A level. He should get another opportunity with the big league club before the summer is through.

Making his second big-league appearance, the 32-year-old Wynne got a save for finishing up Sunday’s 24-2 game against the Royals. He’ll stay on the 40-man for now, but he’ll probably be DFA’d next time the Reds need a spot.

Wynne last appeared in the majors for Cincinnati during the 2023 season when he made exactly one relief appearance. The 32-year-old journeyman righty provides the Reds with some emergency long relief depth heading into Sunday’s series finale against the Orioles.

If he never makes it back, the 30-year-old Wynne can still always say he was a major leaguer. And one with a fair enough ERA. He allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings in his one day with the Reds.

Wynne allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings on Sunday in his major league debut and has been removed from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Orioles.

Wynne is a 30-year-old reliever who will make his major league debut whenever he toes the rubber for the Reds. Wynne has a 5.12 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across 12 appearances for Triple-A Louisville.
