Padres acquired LHP Randy Williams from the Mariners for infielder Billy Hogan.
It looks like the Mariners did this mostly to free up a roster spot. Hogan, a 2003 fifth-round pick, hit .236/.308/.357 for short-season Single-A Eugene last season. Williams, a lefty reliever with limited upside, will compete for a spot in the San Diego bullpen next spring.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #56
Mark Buehrle was ejected from Tuesday’s game against the Indians after being called for his second balk of the game in the third inning.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected after the first balk and Buehrle was tossed after the second. Buehrle was uncharacteristically animated following the second balk call, dropping his glove to the ground. He had to be restrained by Joey Cora and A.J. Pierzynski before leaving the field. He was replaced by left-hander Randy Williams with a runner on second base and one out.

Rockies designated LHP Randy Williams for assignment.
Williams was claimed off waivers from the Padres last month. He’s likely to make it through this time.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Padres optioned LHP Randy Williams to Triple-A Portland and reassigned RHP Angel Tovar to minor league camp.
The Tim Redding acquisition took away the bullpen spot that Williams, Steve Sparks and Joey Dawley were competing for.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
The Rockies are expected to call up reliever Randy Williams.
He’s been working as a closer in the minors for the Rockies and would give them another left hander in the bullpen.

Rockies purchased the contract of LHP Randy Williams from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Williams, 29, had a 3.49 ERA since being sent down to Colorado Springs. He’s more of a middle reliever than a specialist, but that’s what the Rockies want.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
The Rockies are set to bring pitcher Randy Williams up from Triple-A for today’s game.
He’s going to replace Jason Jennings, who’s out for the year with a fractured finger.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
White Sox recalled LHP Randy Williams from Triple-A Charlotte.
Williams provides the White Sox with a second lefty in the bullpen, but isn’t likely to have significant fantasy value. The 33-year-old has a 3.44 ERA in 33 games with Charlotte this season.
