  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Padres optioned RHP Randy Vásquez to Triple-A El Paso.
Vásquez is getting bumped from the roster after throwing six scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks on Saturday to finish the season 4-7 with a 4.87 ERA in 20 starts.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vásquez pitched one-hit ball for six shutout innings against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
The Padres didn’t score until well after Vásquez exited, so he remained 4-7 for the season, though he did lower his ERA from 5.18 to 4.87. With only three starters needed, he might earn some consideration for a place on the Padres’ Wild Card roster. However, it will take injuries to make him a real factor for the team in October.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Padres recalled RHP Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso.
Vasquez is coming up to start Saturday night’s game against the Diamondbacks. With the Padres having already clinched a spot in the postseason, they’ll save Michael King, who they acquired in the trade for Juan Soto last offseason along with Vasquez, for the playoffs.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #34
With their postseason spot locked up, the Padres will not start Michael King against the D-backs on Sunday.
They’ll go with Randy Vásquez on Saturday and Martín Pérez on Sunday. As a result, King ends the regular season 13-9 with a 2.95 ERA. He’ll likely join Dylan Cease and Joe Musgrove as the Padres’ slated starters in their home Wild Card series.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Padres optioned RHP Randy Vásquez to Triple-A El Paso.
Vásquez was shelled during Saturday’s start against the Rays; allowing nine runs in 4 1/3 innings. The right-hander will head back to El Paso for now, and he may not be back with San Diego — at least as a starter — for the foreseeable future.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vásquez was hit for nine runs over 4 1/3 in a loss to the Rays on Saturday.
Vásquez was roughed up in his start Saturday against the Rays. He gave up a run on a walk, double, and base hit in the first inning. Tampa Bay would bring four more in to score in the second, including a three-run blast by Junior Caminero. Five hits and two walks made it nine runs with one out in the fifth inning before Vásquez’s day was done. The 25-year-old right-hander will carry a 5.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and a 58/28 K/BB ratio into a start against the Giants in San Diego on Friday.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vasquez allowed two runs in six innings and got the win in the Padres’ 7-4 victory over the Cardinals on Monday.
Vasquez gave up six hits, walked two and struck out two. The win was his fourth of the season. Vasquez has allowed three runs or less in 11 of his last 13 major league starts. He has a 4.52 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings this year. The lack of strikeouts make him a tough start in fantasy at the moment. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road this weekend.

Padres recalled RHP Randy Vásquez from Triple-A El Paso.
Vásquez is back despite giving up 10 runs over 7 1/3 innings in his two starts for El Paso, and he’ll face the Cardinals tonight. He’s 3-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 17 starts for the Padres this season.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vasquez is expected to start for the Padres on Monday against the Cardinals.
The 25-year-old right-hander will be taking the rotation spot that was vacated by Matt Waldron — at least until Yu Darvish is ready to return. Vasquez holds an uninspiring 4.63 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 53/22 K/BB ratio over 81 2/3 innings in 17 starts at the big-league level this season.

Padres optioned RHP Randy Vásquez to Triple-A El Paso.
Joe Musgrove is due back next week, so Vásquez has lost his spot in the San Diego rotation. He had a 4.63 ERA and a 53/22 K/BB ratio in 81 2/3 innings over the course of 17 starts.
