Pirates ace Paul Skenes has been named to his second consecutive National League All-Star Game roster.
The dynamic 23-year-old fantasy ace headlines a pitching staff that will also feature fellow starting pitchers Zack Wheeler, Matthew Boyd, Freddy Peralta, MacKenzie Gore, Chris Sale, Logan Webb, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Robbie Ray. Clayton Kershaw was added as a legend pick by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. They’ll be joined by relievers Edwin Diaz, Jason Adam and Randy Rodriguez.

Camilo Doval gave up four runs — three earned — while getting two outs in the 10th inning Wednesday in a loss to the Marlins.
The Giants have proactively switched closers in consecutive years now, but it’s unclear if it’s actually helped them either time. Doval was a successful if exceedingly shaky closer when he was replaced by Ryan Walker last summer, and the same has mostly held true since the two had their roles reversed a month ago. Doval has given up five earned runs in his last two appearances, taking his ERA from 1.59 to 2.78. He should stick in the closer’s role for now, but one more bad appearance might get him replaced by Randy Rodríguez.

Randy Rodríguez took a blown save and a loss after giving up three runs — one earned — in the ninth Thursday against the Rockies.
Rodríguez was closing today because Camilo Doval threw 48 pitches the last two days. but he proved wild, and just when it looked like he might get out of it anyway, Casey Schmitt booted a hard grounder to third for an error. Orlando Arcia won the game with a single on Rodríguez’s 43rd pitch of the inning. Rodríguez will definitely need at least one day off after this, but Doval should be ready to close Friday.

Camilo Doval allowed two hits while striking out one and securing a save in a 3-2 win over the Padres on Thursday.
Doval allowed a leadoff single to Manny Machado and then a one-out single to Gavin Sheets before getting Jose Iglesias and Jake Cronenworth to end the threat and snag his eighth save of the season. Doval is now the closer in San Francisco, but his strikeout rate is down significantly, and it’s hard to feel secure with him in the ninth-inning role. Fantasy managers who have Doval and roster space should also scoop up Randy Rodriguez, who pitched a scoreless eighth inning and has a 0.64 ERA with a far better strikeout rate than Doval on the year.

Randy Rodriguez got the final two outs to get a save versus the Padres on Wednesday.
Ryan Walker came in to pitch in a one-run game for a chance at a save, but Walker gave up a pair of hits while getting just one out. Rodriguez came in to clean up the mess, and he was able to do so fir his first save of the season. He also lowered his ERA to 0.66 in 2025, but it’s hard to imagine he’ll get called on for many more save opportunities.

Giants activated RHP Randy Rodriguez off the 15-day injured list.
Rodriguez is back after missing six weeks with a flexor strain in his throwing elbow. The 25-year-old should operate in the mid-to-late innings while he’s with the club.

Randy Rodríguez was diagnosed with a flexor tendon strain after going on the injured list Thursday and will not throw for two weeks.
Rodríguez will need to progress quickly to have a chance of helping the Giants next month. The 24-year-old righty has a 3.93 ERA in 50 1/3 innings in his first season as a big leaguer.

Giants placed RHP Randy Rodríguez on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Rodríguez has compiled a serviceable 3.93 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 52/16 K/BB ratio across 50 1/3 innings (33 appearances, one start) this season for the Giants in his first exposure to the big leagues. Given the type of injury, the 24-year-old rookie reliever is probably done for the rest of the year.

Randy Rodriguez picked up a win after allowing one run over three innings in relief Sunday against the Rockies.
Rodriguez, who was recalled before the game, was the bulk guy today after Erik Miller opened and pitched a scoreless first. He’s 3-1 with a 4.11 ERA in 46 innings for the Giants, all but 2 2/3 of them coming as a reliever.

Giants recalled RHP Randy Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Rodriguez is back with Sean Hjelle placed on the bereavement list by the Giants. In 43 innings with the Giants this year, Rodriguez has a 4.19 ERA and 44/15 K/BB. He’ll work in the middle innings while back in the majors.
