Padilla received brief callups from the Cubs in 2022 and the White Sox in 2023, but he was denied a longer look last season after missing much of the first half. He wound up with a 3.23 ERA and a 37/16 K/BB in 30 2/3 innings out of the pen for Triple-A Charlotte. Walks have always been a big issue for him, but if he could get better there, he’s talented enough to help out as a middle-leverage reliever.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher
The 28-year-old Pennsylvania native returns home after spending six seasons toiling in the minor leagues for the Padres’ organization. Mosser spent the entire 2024 campaign at Triple-A El Paso where he compiled a 5.40 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 103/48 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings in his 28 appearances (26 starts). He’ll serve as extra rotation depth for the Phillies.
  • PHI Third Baseman #28
Passan adds that the Phillies are looking to shake up their roster following last year’s postseason loss to the Mets. Bohm would certainly fit the bill coming off the best season of his career, despite fading down the home stretch. Given the tremendous depth at the hot corner, Bohm is a borderline top 12 option at the position heading into 2025, but a change of scenery could wind up boosting his appeal.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #76
Painter averaged a crisp 95.8 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and topped out at 98.9 mph as well. He wraps up a highly-impressive fall showcase stint with a microscopic 2.30 ERA and 18/4 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings (six starts). The 21-year-old prodigy, who is fully recovered from Tommy John surgery at this point, is arguably the top pitching prospect in baseball for fantasy purposes and appears to be a legitimate contender to break camp in the majors with Philadelphia.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #76
Painter averaged 96.3 mph on his fastball, topping out at 98.8 mph, while striking out two and only handing out one free pass. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect has looked extremely sharp this fall in his return to game action after missing all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski told reporters last month that he thinks Painter will be pitching at the big-league level at some point in 2025. There’s a strong possibility he arrives in the majors in the early-to-midseason range once he’s sufficiently built up his stamina and workload.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #49
All five wound up electing free agency and will test the open market rather than accept outright assignments to remain with the Phillies. The most notable name here is Allard, who made seven appearances (four starts) last year for Philadelphia. The trio of Marte, Ortiz and Tarnok figure to be able to latch on elsewhere as extra relief depth. Castro underwent surgery back in August to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #17
Sweet heads to Philadelphia after spending all of last year at Triple-A Toledo in Detroit’s system, finishing with a solid 3.91 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 111/38 K/BB ratio across 76 innings (52 appearances). The 28-year-old righty made seven appearances during the 2023 season between the Mariners and Athletics.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #79
Rangel signed a minor league pact with the Phillies back in mid-July and has been officially added to the club’s 40-man roster. The 27-year-old righty has yet to reach the majors, but that could wind up changing next season.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #66
McMillon will bolster Philadelphia’s relief depth after posting a sparkling 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 13/5 K/BB ratio across 12 innings (10 appearances) for Miami after being claimed off waivers in mid-August from the Royals. The 26-year-old righty figures to pitch in middle relief for the Phillies.
  • LAA Shortstop #4
Kingery, 30, spent all of 2024 in Triple-A with Lehigh Valley where he forged a .268/.316/.488 slash with 25 homers and 25 stolen bases. The former top prospect can play all over the field, and he’ll compete for a bench spot with the Angels over the spring.
