He’ll report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. De Geus failed to make the Marlins after giving up six runs in 2 2/3 innings this spring. He has a 7.48 ERA in 61 1/3 major league innings dating back to 2021.

Schwarber gave the Phillies a commanding three-run lead courtesy of a seventh-inning blast — his third round-tripper of the season — off Rockies reliever Victor Vodnik. The 32-year-old impending free agent is off to a stellar start this season, batting .353 (6-for-17) with three homers and six RBI through four games.

Turner came off the bench to pinch-hit in the seventh inning, his first appearance since Opening Day due to back spasms. The 31-year-old shortstop expressed optimism prior to Monday’s series opener that he would be ready to play by Wednesday, but clearly felt well enough to help out in a close ballgame. It’s a welcome development for fantasy managers as they attempt to navigate the avalanche of early-season injuries.

Sánchez’s spring velocity uptick carried over into his highly-anticipated season debut as he sat consistently in the 95-98 mph range on his sinker. The 28-year-old emerging fantasy ace generated 15 swinging strikes, including 12 on his signature changeup alone. He gave the Phillies, and fantasy managers, a brief scare in the fifth inning when he appeared to suffer an injury while running to cover first base, but was able to remain in the contest. He was lifted at 93 pitches (59 strikes) after serving up a one-out solo homer to Rockies backstop Hunter Goodman on a full-count changeup that caught too much of the plate. He’ll face off against the Dodgers fully operational Death Star on Sunday to close out a two-start week.

A little extra relief depth here. Kuhn had spent his entire career in the Mariners system and the last three years in the Double-A Arkansas pen, where he had a 3.54 ERA and a 186/80 K/BB in 168 innings.

Realmuto left Saturday’s game and didn’t play Sunday because of a foot contusion.

Turner is sitting out a third straight game today with back spasms. Edmundo Sosa is filling in at shortstop.

Sosa, who filled in for an injured Trea Turner (back) in a pair of weekend contests against the Nationals, was one of the few bright spots in this one as Nationals starter Mitchell Parker and a quartet of relievers held the Phillies to just one run on eight hits. The 29-year-old utility infielder has posted four hits in eight at-bats to open the season and should continue to play regularly against lefties.

It wound up being the quintessential Nola experience in this one as he recorded eight strikeouts, but also wound up surrendering two home runs, which accounted for all the damage against him. The 31-year-old righty didn’t end up getting any run support from Philadelphia’s lineup and was saddled with a loss in his season debut. If there’s a positive takeaway here it’s that he generated 14 swinging strikes on his five-pitch repertoire and finished with a strong 33 percent CSW. He’ll aim for better results on Saturday when he faces off against the Dodgers’ juggernaut at Citizens Bank Park.
