The Rangers made their signing of Hoby Milner official on Friday and needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster to do so. Unfortunately for White, he pulled the short straw this time around. It’s possible that the 25-year-old hurler will pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Rangers at the Triple-A level.

White made one appearance in his latest stint with the Rangers, giving up two runs in two innings Wednesday. It lowered his season ERA from 54.00 to 24.00.

Because of Grant Anderson’s injury, White is back after four days in the minors. The 25-year-old has given up 11 runs over five innings for the Rangers since making his major league debut last season.

White didn’t pitch during his one day with the Rangers.

White gets the call as the Rangers and the rest of the league gets to expand their roster to 28 players. He’s struggled all year, and while he is a former top prospect, that shouldn’t make anyone think it’s a good idea to grab him on a fantasy roster.

White heads back to the minors to make room for Jack Leiter to come up and take the ball on Tuesday evening against Cleveland. The 24-year-old righty has made a pair of relief appearances this season for the Rangers.

White was up with the Rangers for a handful of contests over the last few days as emergency pitching depth. The 24-year-old righty figures to return in a couple weeks, if needed.

The Rangers needed a fresh arm to provide innings out of the bullpen over the weekend and White was one of the few healthy options remaining on their 40-man roster. He can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes. Jack Leiter was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

The 24-year-old played in three games this spring with the Rangers and posted a 9.00 ERA with six earned runs over six innings.

White, 23, was just recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, but he’ll head right back with Josh Sborz (biceps) ready to return from the injured list. White has compiled an 11.25 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over four innings with the Rangers this season.
