White heads back to the minors to make room for Jack Leiter to come up and take the ball on Tuesday evening against Cleveland. The 24-year-old righty has made a pair of relief appearances this season for the Rangers.

White was up with the Rangers for a handful of contests over the last few days as emergency pitching depth. The 24-year-old righty figures to return in a couple weeks, if needed.

The Rangers needed a fresh arm to provide innings out of the bullpen over the weekend and White was one of the few healthy options remaining on their 40-man roster. He can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes. Jack Leiter was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

The 24-year-old played in three games this spring with the Rangers and posted a 9.00 ERA with six earned runs over six innings.

White, 23, was just recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, but he’ll head right back with Josh Sborz (biceps) ready to return from the injured list. White has compiled an 11.25 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over four innings with the Rangers this season.

White will take Glenn Otto’s spot on the roster as the Rangers need a fresh arm in the bullpen after a blowout loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. White posted a 3.94 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in four starts at Triple-A and will likely see time out of the bullpen as a bulk reliever.

White, who made his major-league debut earlier this season for a contending Rangers’ squad, will toe the rubber in Seattle with a pretty sensational lineup behind him. Here’s the full order: Jonatan Clase (SEA) CF, Marcelo Mayer (BOS) SS, Heston Kjerstad (BAL) RF, Harry Ford (SEA) C, Lawrence Butler (OAK) LF, Junior Caminero (TB) 3B, Tyler Soderstrom (OAK) 1B, Justyn-Henry Malloy (DET) DH and Nick Yorke (BOS) 2B.

Mayer will be joined by Mariners OF prospect Jonatan Clase and Rangers RHP prospect Owen White as the first three selections to the junior circuit’s roster. The rest of the selections will be revealed later this evening. The 20-year-old shortstop is universally-regarded as a top-15 prospect in baseball and has batted .250/.327/.487 with 12 homers and eight steals this season between High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland.

White made his big league debut on Tuesday evening against the Angels, allowing three runs over two innings in relief. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect will head back to the upper minors for some additional seasoning, but could get another look at some point this summer.
