The 24-year-old hurler spent the first seven years of his minor league career in the Mariners organization. He has yet to pitch above High-A ball and is nothing more than organizational depth for the Angels.

Morales receives the promotion despite a 6.22 ERA over 22 appearances -- 19 starts -- for Salt Lake this season. He’ll give the Angels’ bullpen some length.

Morales gave up one hit and retired one batter Thursday in his major league debut. He should return next month.

The move clears a spot for Matt Shoemaker’s return. Morales made one appearance for the Halos last month.

The 25-year-old was designated for assignment on Monday to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Matt Shoemaker. He owns an unappealing 6.44 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 93/57 K/BB ratio across 102 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake this season, no it’s not surprising to see him pass through waivers unclaimed. He’ll continue to provide minor league bullpen depth for the Angels.
