  • LAA Relief Pitcher #70
Angels designated RHP Nick Robertson for assignment.
Robertson comes off the 40-man roster to make room for Gustavo Campero. The right-hander was claimed by the Angels in August and didn’t appear in a game. The 26-year-old may have some interest on the waiver wire for a team looking to find a potential middle-inning option.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #70
Angels claimed RHP Nick Robertson off waivers from the Cardinals.
Robertson was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Sunday, and it didn’t take long for him to find a new home. Robertson will provide some organizational depth for the remainder of 2024, and could see time with the Angels before the season comes to a close.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #70
Cardinals designated RHP Nick Robertson for assignment.
Robertson is now off the 40-man roster, and the Cards needed the room with Riley O’Brien needing to come off the 60-day injured list. Robertson will now be on the waiver wire, and the burly right-hander could be of interest to teams in need of bullpen depth.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #29
Cardinals activated RHP Nick Robertson (elbow) from the 15-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis.
Robertson was a key part of the Cardinals’ return for Tyler O’Neill in a trade this offseason. He has a 4.38 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 14/2 K/BB ratio in 12 1/3 innings with the Cardinals this season. He should get another chance at the MLB level later this season.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #29
Cardinals placed RHP Nick Robertson on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Robertson will be out for at least two weeks while dealing with the inflamation. The massive right-hander hits the shelf while Andre Pallante is recalled from Triple-A Memphis in the corresponding transaction.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #29
Cardinals recalled RHP Nick Robertson from Triple-A Memphis.
Robertson will give the Cardinals a fresh arm in the bullpen, but likely as one who doesn’t pitch in high-leverage situations. Andre Pallante was sent to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction.
  • STL First Baseman #26
Cardinals optioned 1B Luken Baker, 1B/OFs Alfonso Rivas III and Jared Young and RHP Nick Robertson to Triple-A Memphis; reassigned INF César Prieto to minor league camp.
No real surprises here as there’s simply no room for Baker, Rivas or Young at the highest level at the moment in St. Louis. The trio will head to Triple-A Memphis to continue serving as extra organizational depth. The latest batch of cuts pretty much ensures that reliever Andre Pallante and reserve outfielder Michael Siani will make the Opening Day roster.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #75
Cardinals acquired RHP Nick Robertson and RHP Victor Santos from the Red Sox for OF Tyler O’Neill.
The 25-year-old right-hander possesses an intriguing arsenal, but he struggled in his limited action with the Red Sox and Dodgers in 2023 — posting an underwhelming 6.04 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 26/9 K/BB ratio over 22 1/3 innings. He should get every opportunity to compete for a spot in the Cardinals’ bullpen heading into the 2024 season.
  • BOS Right Fielder #27
Red Sox acquired OF Tyler O’Neill from the Cardinals for RHP Nick Robertson and RHP Victor Santos.
A change of scenery is exactly what the dynamic 28-year-old outfielder needs — after several disappointing seasons that were plagued by injuries, poor performance and under-utilization by the Cardinals. He couldn’t have landed in a much better spot from a fantasy perspective either, as Fenway Park should play beautifully to his right-handed power stroke. Would would be really intriguing, is if the Red Sox could get him to pull the ball a bit more. Expect O’Neill’s average draft position to get a major bump.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #75
Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports that the Cardinals will acquire Nick Robertson and Victor Santos from the Red Sox in exchange for Tyler O’Neill.
Robertson, 25, appeared in 18 contests between the Dodgers and Red Sox in 2023 — registering a 6.04 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 26/9 K/BB ratio over 22 1/3 innings of work. He should have a shot at competing for a spot in the club’s Opening Day bullpen in 2024.
