White Sox optioned RHP Nick Nastrini to Triple-A Charlotte.
Nastrini threw 3 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball Monday in what very well could have been his final appearance of 2024. The 24-year-old was acquired from the Dodgers last July in the Lance Lynn trade, and mostly struggled in 2024 with a 7.07 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 35 2/3 innings. He’ll battle for a rotation spot next year with Chicago.

Jared Shuster will serve as the opener for the White Sox on Monday against the Guardians.
Nick Nastrini had been listed as the starting pitcher, so presumably he will work out of the bullpen behind Shuster. Both are risky fantasy options.

Nick Nastrini will pitch out of the pen going forward, according to the White Sox.
Nastrini fell to 0-7 with a 7.79 ERA when he lost to the Orioles on Tuesday. We figured he’d be sent down after that one, but he’ll stick as a middle man, it seems. The White Sox plan to use a bullpen game in Nastrini’s previously scheduled Monday start against the Guardians.

Nick Nastrini gave up seven runs — four earned — and walked six in 1 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Orioles.
Nastrini was allowed to throw 72 pitches in less than two innings. Only 30 of those were strikes. Two were wild pitches. He’s now 0-7 with a 7.79 ERA as a big leaguer, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s sent down Wednesday.

Nick Nastrini allowed just one run over six innings against the Rangers on Thursday, but still was credited with a loss.
Tough luck. Nastrini gave up just a solo homer to Corey Seager, but that’s one more run than the White Sox picked up. The 24-year-old is one of the better talents in the Chicago system, and while he was awful in his previous six starts, this was a friendly reminder of that ability. He allowed just three hits with one walk, and he struck out three. It’s not scheduled yet, but there’s a good chance Nastrini will be on the bump against the Orioles on Tuesday. A tough matchup is scheduled for Tuesday against the Yankees.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #43
White Sox recalled RHP Nick Nastrini from Triple-A Charlotte.
Nastrini will start today against the Rangers. He is 0-5 with an 8.39 ERA in six starts for the White Sox this season, but he did manage a 2.45 ERA in his last four starts for Charlotte.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #43
Nick Nastrini will be promoted from Triple-A Charlotte to start for the White Sox in Thursday’s series finale against the Rangers.
The 24-year-old hurler has made six starts for the White Sox this season, posting a miserable 8.39 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and a 19/25 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings. He should be avoided entirely for fantasy purposes unless you’re attempting to stack Rangers against him on Thursday.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #43
White Sox optioned RHP Nick Nastrini to Triple-A Charlotte.
Nastrini gets sent down after he allowed a run over 4 1/3 innings in his start against the Red Sox while striking out five. He also issued five walks, and his 8.39 ERA tells the story of how shaky the 24-year-old has been in the majors. Sammy Peralta is back from Triple-A to take Nastrini’s spot on the roster.

Nick Nastrini allowed one run in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the White Sox’ 6-1 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.
Nastrini gave up two hits, walked five and struck out five. He didn’t qualify for the win because he didn’t complete the requisite five innings. Nastrini has completed five innings in only two of his six starts and is yet to win a game this year. He has an 8.39 ERA and remains off the fantasy radar. The 24-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mariners on the road next week.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #43
Nick Nastrini allowed four runs on three hits and three walks in four innings in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.
Nastrini threw first-pitch strikes to just six of the 18 batters he faced and struggled to locate any of his pitches other than the slider. He did get six whiffs on 23 swings on the slider, but that was the only pitch he had working. The rookie now has a 9.74 ERA and remains off the fantasy radar, even next week against the Red Sox.
