Will Mariano Rivera get a live “Enter Sandman” played before his last game in Yankee Stadium?

Mariano Rivera

FILE - In this file photo taken April 9, 2012, New York Yankees’ Mariano Rivera sits in the dugout before a baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore. The Yankees closer was carted off the field after twisting his right knee shagging fly balls during batting practice, Thursday, May 3, 2012, and was sent for further tests. Baseball’s career saves leader was hurt before the Yankees played at Kansas City. Rivera was examined by Royals associate physician Dr. Joe Noland and Yankees trainers, and was set for an MRI at KU MedWest. (AP Photo/Patrick Semansky, file)

This is interesting:

Metallica to play The Apollo on 9/21, which puts them in NY one day before Yanks honor Mariano. Hmmm. #ExitSandman http://t.co/CZ4gl03mMN

Yes, interesting because what in the heck is Metallica doing playing the Apollo, but more interesting because if they’re gonna be in New York anyway, what’s to stop them from setting up some giant amps in Monument Park and giving Mo a live “Enter Sandman” when he makes his final appearance in front of the home crowd?

I tend not to be the sort who gets into such orchestrated things, but if you don’t think that wouldn’t be chill-inducing, please go get an emotion transplant.
