Video: Trevor Story finally homered again

It’s hard to believe, but Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went six consecutive games without homering. Story started off the season white hot, belting six homers in his first four games and adding number seven in his sixth game.

Story hit a pair of triples at Coors Field last Wednesday that might’ve been home runs last year -- the club raised the fences in an effort to aid pitchers -- but aside from that, he had hit the skids. He struck out at least twice in each of his previous four games entering Monday night, giving him 22 in 55 plate appearances (a 40 percent strikeout rate).

The Rockies and Reds were tied 1-1 in the eighth inning until Story sent a Ross Ohlendorf fastball way over the fence in right-center at Great American Ball Park for a solo home run. It’s number eight on the season for Story, who remains the league leader. He’s also hitting a cool .309 with 14 RBI.
