Video: Mookie Betts slipped and still somehow made this catch

Boston Red Sox v Los Angeles Dodgers

In the bottom of the first inning between the Red Sox and Indians, leadoff hitter Rajai Davis hit a shallow pop fly to right field. Mookie Betts gave chase, but slipped on the wet grass at Progressive Field, slipping and creating a divot in the field. Somehow, while falling to his knees, Betts maintained focus on the ball and caught it a few feet away from the foul line.

Had Betts been unable to make a grab, Davis would have had a double if not a triple. Statcast says he covered 105 feet in the effort.

The Red Sox would go on to win Monday afternoon’s contest 3-2. Betts did not hit three home runs.
