Matt Kemp has had a productive NLDS through two games. The Dodgers outfielder went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in Friday’s Game 1 loss to the Cardinals, and he went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead solo home run in Saturday’s Game 2 win.
The Dodgers had just lost their lead in the top half of the eighth when Matt Carpenter sent reliever J.P. Howell’s offering into the seats in right-center, tying the game up at two apiece. So when Kemp’s homer landed beyond the left field fence in the bottom half of the eighth, there may have been no one happier to see that than Howell.
