If he isn’t already, Lorenzo Cain will be a household name once the post-season is over. He’s been getting it done with the bat, as his 4-for-5 performance in Game 2 now makes him 6-for-8 in the ALCS against the Orioles. He has even looked incredible running the bases.
It’s Cain’s defense, though, that is really opening eyes. He has already made several spectacular grabs but topped himself and perhaps made one of the best plays of the year in the sixth inning of Saturday night’s game at Camden Yards against the Orioles.
Starter Yordano Ventura was facing first baseman Steve Pearce, who hit a line drive to right-center field. It seemed destined to be a double, but Cain glided into the gap, stretched his arm out, and snagged the ball to record the out. Words don’t do it nearly enough justice, so have a look for yourself:
