Braves rookie shortstop Dansby Swanson is finally on the board with his first major league homer and it didn’t even clear a fence.

With two outs and the bases empty in the top of the second inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Nationals, Swanson cracked a line drive to center field that sailed over the head of Trea Turner. It caromed back towards left-center field. Right fielder Bryce Harper hustled all the way over and grabbed the ball, making a strong throw home, but it was a couple of seconds too late.

Swanson’s inside-the-park home run extended the Braves’ lead to 3-0. He came into the night with a meager .556 OPS in his first 60 major league plate appearances.

As MLB.com’s David Adler points out, Swanson is the 11th player since 2000 to hit an inside-the-park home run for his first big league homer.
