This is scary news for the Diamondbacks: Per Jack Magruder of FOX Sports Arizona, rookie pitcher Archie Bradley is headed for a visit with Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his ailing right shoulder. The 22-year-old rookie had been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno, but had lackluster results and admitted to not feeling quite right after the start.
GM Dave Stewart said, “We’re not seeing anything to be alarmed about, but there may be something there.”
Bradley can’t catch a break, it seems. He was hit in the head with a line drive during his April 28 start, which kept him out of action for three weeks. He returned and made four starts before suffering another injury. The right-hander has a 5.89 ERA with a 23/22 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings. Baseball Prospectus ranked him as baseball’s #11 overall prospect heading into the 2015 season.
