The Red Sox have cancelled David Ortiz’s bobblehead night due to ugly bobbleheads

The Red Sox were supposed to have a David Ortiz bobblehead giveaway tonight. They have cancelled it, however. Here is the statement from the team:

What, exactly, was unacceptable about it? You be the judge:

It ain’t the prettiest bobblehead ever. I’ve seen some people tweeting that the mouth/lips appear to be the stuff of racist caricature, however inadvertent. I can see that I guess:

I presume the new ones the team will send to ticketholders for tonight’s game will be better looking. In the meantime, if you can get your hands on one of these, I suppose you’ll have a collector’s item on your hands.
