Ike Davis entered tonight’s series opener against the Braves hitting .147 with a .481 OPS. The first baseman has heard rumors of a possible demotion to Triple-A amid an avalanche of criticism. He did nothing to alleviate concerns as he earned the illustrious golden sombrero, striking out four times tonight. As ESPN Stats & Info notes, it is his third golden sombrero of the season which puts him in interesting company:
Ike Davis: 3rd game this season w 4+ K, ties Mets single-season record (Ron Swoboda, Jerry Koosman, Cliff Floyd)

Davis has exactly one hit in his last 42 trips to the plate -- a single to center against Edwin Jackson of the Cubs on May 17.
