It has been rumored for a while, but the Giants finally unveiled their new home alternate black jerseys yesterday at their Town Hall event:

Do they really need five jerseys? Probably not. Nobody does. I think the orange alternate is perfect and at least functions as a proper throwback, but this seems like a cash grab. Not that the Giants aren’t doing what every other team does with these alternate jerseys.
Anyway, it’s rather appropriate that the Giants will debut their new alternate black jerseys on May 2 for “Metallica Day” at AT&T Park. They’ll continue to wear them during select home games during the 2015 season.
