Michael Cuddyer is out of the lineup again today as a “precaution” regarding his knee. Indeed, he has missed six out of the last eight games with a sore left knee, that reportedly swells up every game.
Cuddyer, the Mets’ big splash offensive addition this past offseason, is hitting .240/.292/.356 with six homers. This after playing just 49 games last year. He’s making $8.5 million this year and $12.5 million next year.
Cuddyer will have his knee looked at in New York when the Mets return from the current road trip. Until that time, Mets fans can ask themselves whether it’s better that he’s being overpaid to not play as opposed to being overpaid to play.
