Rays outfielder Steven Souza, Jr. was hit on the hand by a Joe Kelly pitch in the fifth inning of Saturday’s loss to the Red Sox. He’ll require a stint on the 15-day disabled list, the Rays announced. A corresponding roster move is still to come.
Souza, 26, entered the day hitting .212/.299/.402 with 15 home runs and 34 RBI along with 10 stolen bases. The Rays acquired him from the Nationals as part of a three-team trade also involving the Padres back in December.
