So Shin-Soo Choo had a bad year. So he goes back home to South Korea and his doctor, he suggested taking one these uh, aggression training courses. You know these aggression training courses like EST, those type of things?

Anyway, it cost 400 bucks! 400 bucks to join this thing? Well he didn’t have the money and he thought to himself, “Join the army”! It’s free. So he figured while he’s there he’ll lose a few pounds. And they got what, a 6 to 8 week training program there? A real tough one. Which is perfect for him:

After a tough 2011 season, the Indians outfielder spent four weeks with the South Korean army, fulfilling a service requirement for all men in his homeland. As part of a 180-man unit, Choo went on six-hour marches carrying a 50-pound knapsack, learned to shoot a gun and tossed hand grenades. The training not only got him into peak physical shape, but it got him mentally tougher and gave him time to contemplate his life.

Sounds like he walked out of there a Lean, Mean, Fightin’ Machine!
