Ron Washington didn’t read “Moneyball” book, but “thought the movie was very good”

Ron Washington press conference

Ron Washington was the A’s third base coach during the Moneyball days, but told Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas that he stopped reading the book after the first chapter.

However, the Rangers manager attended the movie’s premiere Monday night in Oakland and had a glowing review: “I thought the movie was very good. It brought back a lot of memories.”

Washington is a secondary character in the movie, but actor Brent Jennings steals a scene with one of the funniest lines--which is featured prominently in many previews--and, unlike Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s portrayal of manager Art Howe, the film definitely paints Washington in a positive light.
