As expected, the Rockies activated veteran right-hander Aaron Cook from the 60-day disabled list on Wednesday evening.

Cook is making his 2011 debut on Wednesday night in San Diego after sitting out for over two months with a broken finger on his pitching hand.

The 32-year-old hasn’t taken a major league mound since last September 8, when he suffered a fracture in his lower right leg after getting struck by a line drive off the bat of eventual National League MVP Joey Votto. Cook finished with a disappointing 5.08 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 23 starts last season. He walked 52 batters and struck out only 62.

The Rockies optioned reliever Greg Reynolds to Triple-A Colorado Springs in order to clear a roster spot.
