Ricky Nolasco rejoins Twins after three-month absence

Out for the past three-plus months following ankle surgery that was initially thought to be season-ending, right-hander Ricky Nolasco is off the disabled list and might actually play a role for the Twins down the stretch.

Between his long absence and mostly poor pitching before the injury it’s hard to imagine the Twins having much faith in Nolasco, but with left-hander Tommy Milone sidelined by a shoulder injury and several relievers also banged up Minnesota may take a chance on Nolasco being useful in a bullpen role.

Plus, he’s owed about $25 million for the next two seasons, so regardless of whether the Twins have any faith left in Nolasco they’re stuck with him.
