Earlier this off-season, there was a report that free agent starter James Shields had a five-year, $110 million offer from an unknown team. Per USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale, Shields said he never rejected such an offer.
As our own D.J. Short explained earlier today, Shields is expected to sign with a team soon. In fact, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that a decision is expected within 24 hours. The Padres are considered the favorites to land him.
