The Associated Press reports this afternoon that Major League Baseball will play the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia. The reason: to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Which, hey, that’s a good enough reason.

No official announcement had been made, but I just got a press notice for a new conference scheduled for next Tuesday which will include Commissioner Rob Manfred, Phillies owner John Middleton, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and, yes, the Philly Phanatic. You figure they’ll be announcing that then.
