From Matt Eddy at Baseball America comes word that the Red Sox have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with infielder Jeff Bianchi. It presumably includes an invitation to major league spring training, where Bianchi will attempt to win a spot on Boston’s Opening Day roster.
The 28-year-old appeared in 29 games last season for the Brewers -- primarily at shortstop and third base -- but batted just .171/.203/.186 in 70 at-bats. He is a .216/.251/.283 career hitter in the bigs.
Boston also signed outfielder Blake Tekotte to a minor league deal, per Eddy. Tekotte was released by the Diamondbacks in August.
