Rangers “still in discussions” with Phil Coke

MLB.com’s T.R. Sullivan reports that the Rangers are “still in discussions with” free agent left-hander Phil Coke, who worked out for the club earlier this month.

Coke reportedly has a range of minor league offers but is holding out for a major league deal that will pay him around $2 million. The 32-year-old reliever posted a rough 4.25 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 6.8 K/9 in his four seasons with the Tigers, but he’s pretty good when used strictly against left-handed hitters.

For his career, Coke has held lefty batters to a .243/.297/.352 slash line.
