In addition to re-signing infielder Adam Rosales today, the Rangers announced that they signed reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

You might remember Oviedo from when he was known as Leo Nunez and saved 92 games from 2009-2011 with the Marlins. After missing the entire 2013 season following Tommy John surgery, he posted a 3.69 ERA and 26/16 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 innings with the Rays last season before being released in August. He sat out the rest of the year.

Oviedo turns 33 in March and could secure a bullpen spot with Texas if he regains some of his pre-Tommy John surgery velocity.
