Quote of the Day: Red Sox owner John Henry delivers a zinger about the Marlins

John Henry Getty

You may recall that the Marlins were reportedly “outraged” at the Red Sox for sending a substandard lineup to Thursday’s Grapefruit League game at Roger Dean Stadium. Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington has since apologized for the incident, but owner John Henry thinks the Marlins should issue an apology of their own:

Oh snap. In truth, many folks on Twitter had the very same reaction when this story first came out, but it’s still unexpected to see this from Henry. Easy target, but well played.

This stings a bit more for Marlins fans because Henry owned the team from 1999-2002. He eventually sold it to then Montreal Expos owner Jeffrey Loria as part of a multi-franchise deal that paved the way for him to purchase the Red Sox along with Tom Werner and the New York Times Company.
